Hopi Arts
Traditional Native Flutes & Silversmith Jewelry

Traditional Native American Flute and Silversmith jewelry hold a strong cultural significance for the Hopi Nation. These artistic practices tell the stories of native ancestors and Hopi culture, while at the same time providing economic opportunity to living relatives for the community to flourish.

As adversity continues to remain on Hopiland due to poverty, violence, and apathy, the traditional artistry of the Hopi silver craft and flutes is being lost with each passing generation.

With your support, Weaving Worlds will create an educational apprenticeship program to pass down the knowledge, wisdom, and craft of Hopi silversmith jewelry and Native American flutes by teaching native youth the craft and history behind them.

These efforts aim to provide economic sovereignty for Hopi artists and natives while maintaining the beauty and living practice of traditional Hopi arts.

This program will be taught by Erine Northrup Jr.,  a master artist and craftsman of native traditional Hopi arts and culture who holds the knowledge of Native American flute making and silversmith jewelry. Erine is an exceptionally skilled in traditional Hopi silver jewelry maker, cultural storyteller, and musician. He was raised on the Hopi reservation and Indian boarding schools. In his workshop and trading post on Hopi land, he has maintained the tradition and refined his craft for over 30 years.
